GHK-Cu is a copper(II) complex of the tripeptide glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine, a sequence found naturally in human plasma and associated with fragments of proteins such as collagen. The peptide has a high affinity for copper and acts as a copper-binding ligand, forming a defined 1:1 coordination complex through the histidine imidazole and the peptide backbone.
